Basic Mediation Skills Training
A basic introduction to mediation. Designed to provide the participant
with an understanding of the mediation process.
Generally 40 hours in length to meet the requirements of the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution for being a registered neutral. May be adapted for an organization or agency to meet particular needs
Learning objectives include:

To monitor and facilitate communication

To correctly apply the mediator's role in the resolution of disputes

To establish an atmosphere conducive to reaching agreement

To practice the mediation process

To position the process of mediation appropriately within the traditional
legal framework

Facilitation Training
Customized for the agency or organization.
Generally 2 to 3 days in length.
Designed to equip the participant with basic skills for facilitating
difficult meetings. May be focused on the following areas:

IEP Meetings in Special Education

Community Discussions

Church Committees
-
Inter-agency or multi party meetings

Mediation Training for Special Education Disputes
The State of Georgia and JCA developed one of the first systematic, statewide
procedures for mediation services in Special Education in the United States.
Integrates the active role of parents intended by IDEA.
Offered as a means to resolve conflict informally as well as formally.
Focuses on cases that include a variety of stakeholders.
Acknowledges the intricacies of dealing with the often difficult problems
arising from disagreements about appropriate educational programs for students.

Advanced Mediation Training
Designed to meet the needs/requests of experienced mediators.
Generally 3 days in length, but may be adapted to meet the agency's
needs

Mediation Training for Workplace Disputes
Customized basic level of mediation training to workplace issues
Generally 3 days in length, but may be expanded to 4 or 5 days depending on the agency's needs.
- EEO complaints regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, in both the public and private sector.
- Corporate settings
- Includes Federal Workplace Disputes Training which leads to certification in mediator of disputes that arise in the workplace
