HEAR
WHAT OUR STUDENTS ARE SAYING

About a week
after each class, the Justice Center sends participants a group
picture we have taken of their class. We have received the
unsolicited comments below in response: |

My experience
at the Justice Center mediation Training was one of the most
rewarding of my legal/judicial career. I simply had no idea
that the Center was in the hands of extraordinary folks such as
Edith, Martha, Elmer and others including Al Rudd. The rich
curriculum, enthusiastic staff and generous accommodations just
knocked me off my feet. Having participated in numerous
mediations as a lawyer and as a judge before I signed up for the
class, I assumed that I had nearly mastered the art of
mediation. Presentations during this course humbled me
regarding the truly sophisticated approach to resolution of
complex litigation. This course exposed me to the elusive and
deceptively subtle dynamics of mediation. It also provided an
irreplaceable structure for orderly, thorough and professional
case resolution. Training at the Justice Center is a must for
anyone who is serious about becoming a great and effective
mediator. I am very grateful to the Justice center of Atlanta
for this exceptional experience.

Just a
quick note of thanks for a fabulous week of training. I
thoroughly enjoyed the training and found that it will help me
in dealing with conflict in the workplace. While I initially
dreaded the role-play exercises, they were critical to the
transfer of knowledge to students. I also want to acknowledge
our observer, Eunice. She was thorough, thoughtful, and helpful
in providing advice regarding how to overcome challenges in the
mediation process. Kudos to all. Thank you, and thank you for
the 5 pounds I picked-up last week --not. The food and
hospitality were great and contributed to the success of the
training. Creature comforts are important. You've mastered it
all! Warmest regards,
Carolyn Hightower |

Thank you
so much! I really enjoyed class not only because I learned so
much, but because you all also made such a great team and
wonderful atmosphere for learning. Thank you all for enabling
me to earn my certificate. Please take care and I look forward
to seeing you for more training in the future.

Once
again, I'd like to say thank you all for the valuable tools
you've provided me with. I must say after only week with all of
you, I miss hearing Miss Edie yelling Elmer's name! Stay in
good graces and continue to do what you do. Stirling D.

Just
wanted to say how wonderful the training was, and thank you for
your assistance with getting in the class! True Southern
hospitality! Kinda makes me homesick (born/raised in South
Carolina) since I'm way out here on the West coast. I know
everyone left the JCA motivated and excited, much like leaving a
pep rally. You are all a great bunch, and I really appreciate
your team spirit. Again, excellent training by a great team!
Thanks. Frankie D. Austin |

I really
enjoyed being a student of mediation again. The videos,
handouts of ethics questions, model standards, ADR rules, role
plays and discussions were all most helpful. The day was very
well spent, and I thank you all. In addition, you made me feel
"at home" and glad to be there. You know how I feel about the
Justice Center and the impact it has had upon me. I always look
forward to being there, mediating, observing, and enjoying the
professional camaraderie. See you soon. Sincerely,
Nancy Bedford |

Thank you
so much. We really enjoyed yesterday. I think the supervisors
got a lot out of yesterday's [training] sessions. I wanted to
reiterate how wonderful the entire Justice Center Staff is, and
how much I appreciate you all and the great things you do for
the Courts. Stefani Lacour |

Testimonial letter written to a supervisor about
JCA |

Hi Karen:
I just wanted
to take a few moments to say "Thank You" for allowing me to
attend the Mediation training at The Justice Center of Atlanta,
Inc., in Atlanta, GA., last month. I have delayed sending this
message of appreciation to you because I've been waiting to get
my official letter of approval in the mail from the Georgia
Office of Dispute Resolution, confirming me as a neutral with
the Supreme Court of Georgia, which took some time. I did not
want to send this without a copy of that also, please see
attachment below.
When I
returned home from Atlanta, one of the first phone calls I made
was to the Supreme Court of Ohio's Office of Dispute Resolution,
to inquire on what steps I needed to take to be registered in
Ohio's courts as a neutral. Speaking with the Program Manager,
Ken Davis, I explained that I had just completed JCA's Mediation
training with the Clinical Practicum, and he was very familiar
with JCA's impeccable training. Mr. Davis spoke very highly of
JCA and told me that I had surpassed all requirements of Ohio's
Supreme Court as a Mediator. At the closing of our
conversation, Mr. Davis' exact words to me were "...print up
your business cards, hang out your shingle and get busy Ms.
Gilliam".
The Mediation
training given by The Justice Center of Atlanta (JCA) is in one
word, "Superb!" The professionalism of each and every staff
member there is excellent. The hospitality that they provide
along with the extremely intense training is just outstanding.
Upon completion of my training, I was equipped with everything I
needed to be a successful Mediator for any organization.
The following
training objectives were met over and beyond the call of duty:
|
1 |
An
ability to adopt the mediation mindset and the language of
resolution. |
| |
|
|
2 |
A
knowledge and use of the various language techniques that
enhance the opportunity for resolution. |
| |
|
|
3 |
An
ability to implement the mediation process. |
| |
|
|
4 |
An
understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the
mediation process. |
| |
|
|
5 |
An
appreciation of the impact of laws, ethics, regulations,
policies, and practices surrounding the mediation process
and its outcome. |
| |
|
|
6 |
An
appreciation of diversity issues. |
I highly
recommend this training for anyone seeking to become a
Mediator. While I was there, I talked with several classmates
who had previously taken DEOMI's Mediation course, and in
comparison to JCA, they preferred JCA by far.
For your
review, below I have attached a copy of the 5-day agenda to this
course. JCA also offers Customized Mediation Training in a
variety of areas to meet specific needs of an organization.
During the training, JCA provides continental breakfast; a
fresh-daily southern buffet lunch; and snacks at no additional
charge. Free parking is also available, making things very
convenient and economical. I recommend using JCA for any of our
needs at EPA concerning the issue of Mediation training. If I
can be of any assistance at all with planning for such an event,
please let me know. I would love the opportunity to do so.
Sincerely,
(Your new
Mediator)
